Axon Framework Fundamentals

CQRS and Event Sourcing are patterns you could hand-build from scratch — and the earlier modules in this category deliberately showed the raw mechanics that way. Axon Framework is the Spring-native library that gives you command/event/query buses, an event store, and the annotations to wire it all up without reinventing that plumbing yourself.

Learning objectives

  • Identify the core building blocks Axon provides: Command Bus, Event Bus, Query Bus, and Event Store
  • Map CQRS and Event Sourcing concepts onto concrete Axon annotations and Spring Boot configuration
  • Distinguish Axon Server (the optional dedicated infrastructure) from embedded, in-memory Axon components
  • Build a minimal end-to-end Axon application: a command, an aggregate, an event, and a query handler
  • Explain how Axon's buses relate to the manual command/event dispatch shown in earlier CQRS modules
